SHOWING UP DAILY-Self Employed
I will not be the first nor the last to say IT (clap) ISN’T (double clap) EASY (multiple claps)! Showing up for your business, day after day, with enthusiasm in the phases where business feels stagnant or not bearing as much fruit, can be a real challenge. Especially if you are doing it solo, no hype buddies/team/audience. It takes more than just passion and patience to grow a business, it takes major DISCIPLINE. You’ve probably heard this one too, “YOU CAN’T RELY ON MOTIVATION”— I can 100% confirm this to be accurate. Showing up when you’re not motivated, when there is no income guaranteed until further notice, or no one cheering you on can be a struggle. All of that comes with the territory of being self employed. This is why discipline will be more crucial than passion. So that even when the momentum starts to fizzle down, you are still committed to your business. You have to love it more than anyone else. It grows when we choose it everyday, even when we’re unsure of the outcome.
Whether you’re working toward a personal goal or a professional endeavor, progress comes from showing up — not perfectly, but persistently. It’s not to say you can’t have a self care day/recovery days. We all have personal circumstances, for some may be more complex in regards to health. I want to be very mindful and gentle around this topic because health is the most important. I encourage health to always be a priority. I also encourage taking small steps that feel good and doable when possible, even asking for support when needed. There is nothing weak about needing help! I believe it is our purpose in life to be in community and serve others how we can.
The road may not always be smooth, but growth rarely is. It’s uncomfy, bumpy, unpredictable, lonely at times. Keep going, keep learning, and keep believing in the version of yourself you’re becoming. You will only be as successful as you’re committed to being. Show up daily, no matter how big or small that may look like. You will see it all compile down the road and it will all make sense. And, I’m always rooting for you!
